PCGS Very Fine 25.   This fully issued example is from a rare post-Civil War store-change note series. The size is similar to the Irondale E. Harrison & Co. change notes from the same period. Engraved and printed by the National Bank Note Co. N.Y., with their imprint at the bottom slightly right of center. A large oval portrait of Washington is at the left end. Titles are across the center over a red \"5\" protector, and a \"5\" die is in the upper right. The obligation, \"In Merchandise at Cash retail prices / at their Store\" is above the engraved signature of C. A. Pilley. The first notes from the series we have cataloged.
