A spectacular piece that is the final India paper proof note rarity from the trove obtained from D. C. Wismer in 1939. This is SENC, the first confirmed, and unique to our knowledge. Beautiful vermillion enlivens this dynamic layout by the American Bank Note Company, Philada., with the imprint along the bottom. The tint plate includes the arced title at the top, dazzling counter surrounds in the upper corners, and \"20\" protector at the bottom. The energetic bison-hunting scene shows the moment the frontiersman on horseback fires his weapon and fells the animal. At lower left, a pair of intricately engraved beavers industriously gnaw on branches. Beavers are relevant to Missouri's early trapping industry and are featured in vignettes on the Bank of St. Louis (1st) $5 notes and the State Loan Office 1821 $1 notes. Research on prominent Missourians indicates that the lower right portrait represents Joseph Robidoux, founder of St. Joseph, Missouri. Plate A. The proof is \"Hole Punch Cancelled,\" as made. Noted with the Wismer collection pedigree \"Hinges on Back,\" which do not detract from the lovely face.
