Province of the Massachusetts Bay October 14, 1713 Redated 1716 3 Shillings Fr. MA-60b. PCGS Very Fine 30 Apparent. An extremely rare Massachusetts \"Tall\" Bill printed on laid paper from a successively redated copper plate that was first engraved in 1713 and was reused until 1740. Printed from the \"middle denominations plate,\" this example is very early with only 1714 and 1716 redates. At the top is fancy scrollwork, text is within a cartouche, and at lower left, the Royal Crown emblem with the motto of Order of the Garter: Honi Soit Qui Mal y Pense (Evil to he who thinks evil of it). The top half of the back is printed in red with floral details. There are four signatures, two of which are accomplished in a strong hand. A very handsome Bill of Credit and choice for a note from this period. The plate details are very strong and the note is well printed on both sides. Back red printing color is vibrant. Broad size with excellent paper quality. Noted with \"Splits and Repairs.\" There are two antique paper strips on the back vertical splitting, but the bill faces up beautifully.
