PA-274 Haxby PA-465 G16 PCGS Extremely Fine 45 Apparent.  This is an intriguing note issue from the first bank chartered by Congress. Initially known as \"The Bank,\" because of this priority, it issued demand notes and was instrumental in putting the new nation on a strong financial footing. This small typeset bill has ornate face borders, and the engraved signature of Tench Francis. It was printed on white wove paper with a striking polychromed color back, which was also used on the early French issue U.S. Loan certificates (Anderson-Smythe US-1). The paper was manufactured by James Woodsman of London and brought back by Benjamin Franklin to his grandson's printing shop. Dual denominations show \"Three Pence\" and \"Three Ninetieths of a Dollar.\" The ornate back with framed patterns and imprint of \"Printed by B[enjamin]. F[ranklin]. Bache. Philadelphia\" Cited as Apparent due to \"Small Edge Splits at Bottom Left.\" The color and eye appeal are excellent, the note type often difficult to find.
