PCGS Very Fine 25.  This is a fabulous Native American title from Wisconsin. Engraved and printed by the American Bank Note Company; the vignettes are formed from two predecessor firms. We know of only a few issued notes, and this signed and issued Newman Collection example looks like the finest. The central vignette shows a Native American man paddling a canoe while his wife, at the other end, tends to the baby bundled snugly in a papoose. The vignette was taken from dies by Wellstood, Hanks, Hay & Whiting. The young woman with long hair and ringlets at the lower right was adapted from dies of Jocelyn, Draper, Welsh & Co. The red protector outlines the ONE. The Krause Collection had a $2 issued note with condition flaws. This issued note is perfectly framed, bright, and with strong paper. A beautiful issued note.
