Printed on rag paper, engraved and printed by Hutton & Freligh, prs., Memphis. The imprint is nearly completely shaved off. Distinctive to this rare and historic style is a centrally placed, rustic medallion portrait of Jefferson Davis under the curved title. The vignettes at top left and right are the same as those on the eagle and shield series. The top left shows a seated allegorical female holding a sickle in one hand and, with the other, supporting a cartouche showing a steamboat. In the upper right, field hands pick cotton. The lower right shows \"$3.\"  Noted with \"Edge and Internal Splits and Damage; Backed.\" The \"Corinth\" is chipped off the lower left, but the backing holds the note together well and the vignette details are strong. We sold a similar note, of a different variant, in our 2015 FUN Signature sale for $4,700 graded PCGS Very Fine 20 Apparent. This is a lesser note, but still a great rarity. Ex: Eric P.
