Proof. PCGS Choice About New 58 Apparent. The $3 proof is the highest denomination from the series and shows another handsome layout. This India paper proof was engraved and printed by Wellstood, Hanks, Hay & Whiting like the others from the Newman Collection. Sheep are at the forefront of orderly livestock being driven by a man on horseback in the vignette at upper left. At right, the Native American man holding a bow observes the ship far below. He holds up his left hand as if to halt the progress of someone nearby. The only other example in private hands sold in the second Krause auction in March 2010 for $2,990 and had restorations. Noted as \"Hole Punch Cancelled\" as made and with a \"Small Edge Tear at Bottom Center.\" The flaw is hard to see and the proof looks perfect. Ex: Eric P.
