A quartet of notes, altered from different source banks. Andover Bank, MA $3 and North River Bank, NYC $3, both altered from Columbia Bank, DC; Merchants' Bank, New-York $3. Different alterations. A black and white note with the required New York seal jammed into the lower right corner. The other has a red THREE protector, but no New York seal or registered signature line was placed on the note. Nuanced details like this abound in altered notes research.
