PCGS Very Good 10 Apparent.  Fully issued, and a rare Reconstruction era scrip note with a Federal style note back. The note has conflicting obligations between the face and back. From the face plate, the note was payable \"One year after date\" at \"3 percent per annum from maturity.\" However, the back medallion obligation has the text \"Redeemable in U. S. Currency without interest.\" Known examples were also payable \"Two years after...\" Boldly designed and printed by the National Bank Note Company with green face bordering and guilloche. The center shows a rare vignette of workers moving a heavy boulder. The brown security back is similar to period Federal notes. In typical condition for the series with noted \"Repairs; Pieces replaced; Design Redrawn.\" This is an intriguing series that deserves additional face plate variety study. Ex: Eric P.
