Proof. PCGS Gem New 66PPQ. This is a superbly styled India paper proof mounted on original card. It was engraved and printed by Danforth, Wright & Co. using two of their classic vignettes. The proofs were printed on a $1-$1-$2-$3 plate configuration. The clipper ship at center under full sail is the most prominent of the boats on the harbor. A farmer at rest, with his scythe hanging on the tree behind him, is at lower left. A red protector ONE is at the bottom center. We have seen a few proofs and issued notes from the bank. Noted as \"Hole Punch Cancelled\" and \"Mounted on Cardstock\" as made. The Gem condition makes this Fond du Lac proof very attractive. Ex: Eric P.
