Proof. PCGS Very Choice New 64 Apparent.  This is a much rarer bank from Beaver Dam, and proofs from this series were not included in the Krause Collection. An India paper proof only, engraved and printed by Toppan, Carpenter & Co. This imprint was not in the 1990 American Banknote Company Archive sale; those proofs were dispersed long before the 1858 consolidation of the seven firms. At top center, women operate textile machinery. Ceres is seated at lower left with a sickle and an ox. This note has no protector; the issued notes from the bank used red protectors, and the Krause Collection had an issued note of this denomination. Noted as \"Hole Punch Cancelled\" as prepared at the engraving firm. Some minor flaws are noted as \"Paper Pulls and Minor Damage on Back.\" The $5 proof in the Newman Part VI sale, a Gem New 67PPQ, realized $3,055. The Haxby plate note proofs from the bank are from the Wisconsin Historical Society Collection and not available, making this possibly unique in private hands. Ex: Eric P.
