PCGS Very Good 10 Apparent.  This is an extremely rare Texas Republic period corporation note. Printed on white rag paper by Whiting's Press, Austin with the imprint discretely placed in the right cartouche. The wide left end panel shows the Seated Liberty image from the coin in a circular frame between framed single stars. The title is across, with obligation underneath. Payable in \"Promissory Notes of the Republic\" is within the obligation. With two signatures. The only $1 note we handled was raw \"Very Good\" overall with a couple of tiny holes and some minor fraying at the right edge. We handled that Steve Ivy Texas Collection note twice. Initially it realized $489 in September 2002; the note doubled in value, bringing $988 at the 2006 Long Beach sale. We are aware of no other sale records of the type. Noted as \"Severed and Repaired; Repaired Tears and Damage.\" The repairs on the back make the note mostly whole, and the soiling is moderate considering the circulation.
