Allen of Kentfield and Mr. and Mrs. Jackson Burke of New York City. The press will be placed in the Special Collections Room of the University Library where it will be available to all members of the University community - faculty, librarians, students - interested in the fine arts of typography and book making. The press, with a 32 by 23 inch platen, was made about 1830 by Robert Hoe and Company, New York. \"As far as we know,\" said Mr. Allen, \"it is unique; there is only one other Acorn handpress, and it is a smaller model.\" There is currently a need, according to Librarian Donald T. The collection visually documents the history of UCSC from the campus opening in 1965, until the Photography Services department was closed, in 2005.
