Others are on the front lines each and every day fighting the pandemic by caring for those who have contracted severe, and sometime fatal, cases of COVID-19. Nowhere is the stark reality of the tremendous toll of the pandemic more apparent than at our two local hospitals. COVID patients are cared for by multi-disciplinary teams of medical professionals that include intensivists, hospitalists, infectious disease medical teams, nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, social workers, palliative care staff, and pharmacists. Among the heroes on the front lines are the staff at Dominican Hospital where, more than ever before, these brave and skilled workers are providing treatment and comfort to those suffering from coronavirus.
