Madonna. Ordonez and Keller were participating in the four-day forester TREX - Forester Prescribed Fire Training Exchange - that began Monday in the Santa Cruz Mountains forest above Watsonville. The event is focusing on bringing together professional foresters, forest managers and fire practitioners to build a culture of good fire and forest management and aims to support private landowners conducting prescribed burns in Monterey, San Benito, and Santa Cruz counties. TREX gatherings first came to Northern California in 2013 and are aimed to create a positive cultural shift concerning prescribed fire, within both regional fire services and the public. These “good fire” TREX events have drawn significant attention, especially in the context of more severe wildfire seasons. \"We recognize that foresters are the land managers for huge portions of California and there's a real interest in forestry around trying to incorporate fire as a management tool for their work,\" said Jared Childress, program manager for the Central Coast Prescribed Burn Association which is a partner of the UC extension. \"But those foresters don't have a background in fire, they're kind of figuring it out. So the concept was: let's combine these two things and really focus on that as it relates to foresters specifically.\" (Shmuel Thaler - Santa Cruz Sentinel)"},{"label":"Creator","value":["Thaler, Shmuel"]},{"label":"Title","value":"Trex Fire"},{"label":"Series Title","value":"2024 Choice"},{"label":"Collection Description","value":"The Shmuel Thaler photographs collection contains photographs by Santa Cruz Sentinel photographer Shmuel Thaler.
