Jubilee continued through the week, culminating in a grand opening of the Golden Jubilee Mining Fair (at Mechanical Pavilion) on Sat. Eve. Jan. 29. President McKinley opened the fair by pressing a button in Washington which rang the Golden Jubilee bell in the Pavilion. James D. Phelan was S.F. mayor. In the great parade, Lt. Governor Nm. [F?]. Jeter of Santa Cruz represented Governor Budd, who was ill. Picture shows Jeter & aides, Adj. Gen. Barrett & Brig. Gen. Muller of the Third Brigade N.G.C., at the reviewing stand. Jeter spoke at the exercises (in Woodward’s Pavilion) following the parade, when he delivered the greetings of the state.
