Past studies have questioned the effect of a product's degree of identity expressionon consumer perception and purchasing decisions. This study focused on analyzing the effect of identity expression ontemporal discounting. Data was collected through Qualtrics. Participants were presented with various delay scenarios, andthe values interpreted as temporal discount rates were collected in the form of delivery fees. A significant relationshipbetween identity expression of a product and delays in time was found, with a steeper discounting slope for products highlyexpressive of identity. This finding suggests that people are less willing to delay receiving products that allow them toexpress their identity and communicate who they are compared to products that do
