The three main types of stem cells are embryonic stem cells, tissue or adult stem cells, and induced pluripotent stem cells. There are many ethical issues faced with the harvesting of some stem cells, but the benefits are great. Stem cells are used to treat many different diseases and chronic conditions, biological as well as psychological. There are other non-medical uses such as creating beef for human consumption. The future for stem cell research is very positive. The medical field is poised to take a giant leap forward.
