Although these students embrace civil freedoms, there is a disconnect between their limited knowledge of how to maneuver through the struggles they face in a 21st century culture hostile to their personhood. Cultivating the spiritual nature of African-American students in the area of academics can be utilized as a foundational conduit for developing a positive framework which may offset the negative expressions often seen, for example, as either a reluctance to learning or disrespect to authority (Breland-Noble, A. M., Wong, M. J., Childers, T., Hankerson, S., & Sotomayor, J. (2015)). By exploring the intrinsic physiognomies of the soul of educators and their impact upon the soul of the African-American students they impact day to day, a clearer understanding on how spirituality intensifies the academic experience among African-American students is achieved (Kessler, 2000). Furthermore, providing teachers with opportunities for understanding and embracing spiritual growth to help offset the negative behaviors of African American students and, in turn, can help to influence academic, social, emotional, and socio-economic growth, if embraced (Mitter, 2015).The intent of this study is to bridge this gap of minimal research thus providing the benefits of spiritual
