An attorney in Santa Rosa from 1968 until his retirement from Shapiro, Galvin, Shapiro & Moran in the mid-1990s, Shapiro was honored through the years for his contributions to both the law and the Sonoma County community. The Sonoma County bar association made him its \"Careers of Distinction\" recipient in 1997. In 2002, Social Advocates for Youth put on a roast and banquet to thank him for his decades of assistance to young people in crisis.
