After Burbank's death in 1926, Elizabeth Burbank moved back across Tupper to his older home, now preserved as Luther Burbank Home and Gardens. The college, under the leadership of Ernest E. Close, President, focused primarily on secretarial skills, but also taught bookkeeping, business law and general business skills, according to its 1936 brochure. In the late 1940s, the college, now called the Burbank College of Commerce, relocated to the Rosenberg Building on Fourth Street in downtown Santa Rosa, and subsequently, to 1431 Town and Country Drive. A final move to 1212 Fourth Street took place in 1961 and another change of name to Burbank Business College in 1965. The school's name reverted back to Luther Burbank College of Commerce in 1969, but in 1974, changed one last time to Luther Burbank Secretarial College. The college closed its door in 1979 or 1980."},{"label":"Source of Title and Description Note","value":"Title supplied by cataloger."},{"label":"Creator Note","value":"Photographer Don Meacham (May 30, 1916-Feb. 28, 2010) was born in Cowell, Contra Costa County in 1916. He lived most of his life in Sonoma County where he retired as freelance commercial photographer after 50 years in the profession. He worked as a photographer in the Navy during WWII; was the flagship photographer on the U.S.S. Augusta during the North African invasion; and was Chief Photographer of the Naval Air Station in Santa Rosa until the war ended.
