After his appointment to the Sonoma County Municipal Court, he served twice as Presiding Judge. He was appointed to the Sonoma County Superior Court in 1982, where he served as Presiding Judge in 1984; Presiding Judge of the Appellate Department in 1985; and Principal Civil Law and Motion Judge, supervising judicial arbitration program from 1986 until his retirement in 1991.
