Background: Carnegie libraries were built with money donated by Scottish-American businessman and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie. More than 2,500 Carnegie libraries were built, including those belonging to public and university library systems. Of the 2509 libraries funded between 1883 and 1929, 1689 were built in the United States. In the early 20th century, a Carnegie library was the most imposing structure in hundreds of small American communities. Most of the library buildings were unique, displaying a number of architectural styles. Each style was chosen by the community. California is second only to Indiana in the number of Carnegie libraries built with 142 to Indiana's 165. The Carnegie library was demolished in December 1975 to make way for the larger new Sebastopol Library."},{"label":"Title","value":"Sebastopol's Carnegie Public Library"},{"label":"Cdm file path","value":"/p15763coll11/image/829.jp2"},{"label":"Subject (Corporate Body)","value":["Sebastopol Public Library (Sebastopol, Calif.)"]},{"label":"Source of Title and Description Note","value":"Title supplied by cataloger"},{"label":"Maps/StreetView","value":"View location in <a href=\"https://www.google.com/maps/place/7140+Bodega+Avenue+Sebastopol+California@38.401794,-122.825131,17m/data=!3m1!1e3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Google Maps</a>"},{"label":"Map Zoom Level","value":["17"]},{"label":"Geocoding Status","value":["Exact geocoding"]},{"label":"Longitude","value":"-122.825131"},{"label":"Latitude","value":"38.401794"},{"label":"Street Address","value":"7140 Bodega Avenue, Sebastopol, California"},{"label":"Geographic Metadata Source","value":["GNIS"]},{"label":"Geographic Feature","value":["Bodega Avenue"]},{"label":"California County","value":["Sonoma"]},{"label":"State or Province","value":["California"]},{"label":"Country","value":["United States"]},{"label":"WSCHS Subject (People)","value":["Carnegie, Andrew"]},{"label":"WSCHS Subject (Topical)","value":["library","Carnegie Public Library","buildins","Sebastopol"]},{"label":"Subject (Time Period)","value":"1960-1969"},{"label":"City or Town","value":["Sebastopol"]},{"label":"Filename","value":"casebwsc_pho_002050.jp2"},{"label":"Credit line","value":"Courtesy, Western Sonoma County Historical Society"},{"label":"Subject keywords","value":"Education and Culture; Sebastopol Public Library (Sebastopol, Calif.); 1960-1969; United States; California; Sonoma; Sebastopol; Bodega Avenue"},{"label":"Single date for City of SR GIS","value":"D:00 M:00 Y:1960"},{"label":"View on Alternative Site","value":"View photo location on the <a href=\"https://maps.srcity.org/Html5Viewer/Index.html?viewer=socolibrary&center=-122.825131,38.401794,4326&scale=1200\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sonoma County Historical Photos Map</a> hosted by the City of Santa Rosa"},{"label":"Collection(s)","value":["Western Sonoma County Historical Society Collection"]}],"description":"Sebastopol's Carnegie Public Library","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/sonomalibrary/iiif/d0282771-54df-4c41-8f1d-7f0f04c4f665/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"Sebastopol's Carnegie Public Library","height":624,"width":1168,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/sonomalibrary/iiif/d0282771-54df-4c41-8f1d-7f0f04c4f665/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jp2","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/sonomalibrary/iiif/d0282771-54df-4c41-8f1d-7f0f04c4f665","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4]}]},"height":624,"width":1168},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/sonomalibrary/iiif/d0282771-54df-4c41-8f1d-7f0f04c4f665/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/sonomalibrary/iiif/d0282771-54df-4c41-8f1d-7f0f04c4f665/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/sonomalibrary/iiif/d0282771-54df-4c41-8f1d-7f0f04c4f665/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/sonomalibrary/iiif/logo"}
