He spent several years in journalism, covering American football and writing about the Detroit Lions and Tennessee Titans, while also experimenting with short fiction. Forced to pursue a more sustainable income, he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard, where he has served for eight years as an electronics technician, an experience that broadened his perspective in unexpected ways. He began writing his first novel, The Sorcerer’s Torch, while deployed in the Pacific Ocean. The process sparked a surge of new ideas, and he looks forward to continuing his work as an author.
