They came to Santa Rosa in the early 1950s and became community activists. She was one of the founders of the Sonoma County NAACP. Alice a founding member of the Community Baptist Church, was noted for giving good advice and wearing elaborate hats. She was a leading member of the South Park Grandmothers Club which supported young \"at-risk\" children at Brookhill School. At the time of her death, she had nine children and 60 grandchildren.
