He was born in England and arrived in California in 1861. He was active from Southern California in the 1860s to The Dalles, Oregon in 1866 before returning to Los Angeles from 1866-1869, and then to Sonoma County, where he operated in Sonoma in 1872 and in Santa Rosa from 1874-1876. He advertised in the Sonoma Democrat in 1872 that \"photographer Rendall\" was offering cashmere goats for sale. By 1874, Rendall had established a gallery at the corner of Fourth and B Streets in Santa Rosa. He back photographing in Los Angeles at least by 1884 to 1886, and he died in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1905. (Source: Palmquist, Peter E., and Thomas R. Kailbourn.
