The family moved to Santa Rosa, CA where he attended Santa Rosa High School and was a Hall of Fame basketball player. In his senior year, they moved to San Rafael, CA where he attended San Rafael High School and played his beloved basketball and graduated. He then attended College of Marin where he met and married the love of his life Carol Ann Herdell. George and Carol married on August 7, 1955, and had three daughters. They moved to Rohnert Park, CA in March 1961 where Geroge spent his young years in the 20-30 club and was instrumental in assisting with building the original A Park backstop and starting the CYO Basketball and Girls Softball programs.
