Isaiah Thomas was born in Champaign County, Ohio in 1826. Eliza JaneThomas was born in Hancock County, Indiana in 1829. They came to California in 1854. In 1858 he purchased 405 acres in Green Valley. Isaiah was a successful rancher who tok considerable interest in public and private life. He was a member of the first Green Valley School Board of Trustees. Family lore tells of daughter Sarah, \"the best horse woman in California\" as a young girl rode her horse to Petaluma once a week for the family mail.
