Wagon has 'Rex Poultry Tonic and Conditioner' printed on canvas cover.\n\nAccording to Latimer Finley's 1937 book, History of Sonoma County, Joseph Fitzgerald organized the Santa Rosa Poultry Association after the 1906 Earthquake. The Association was located at 315 A Street and shared the building with Peniel Mission (317 A) and the Palm Saloon (313 A) — the obscured sign on the left side. Although Frank L. Day (1888-1931) was the proprietor, the only name visible is that of H. (Herman) Bayer (1860-1910; residence, 425 3rd), is shown as proprietor. The Polk-Husted 1909-1910 directory indicates that Frank L. Day (res. 884 2nd) was the proprietor of the saloon at 313 A, while Bayer's saloon is listed as being located at 543 4th Street. Only the last letter of the first part of the saloon name is visible and it doesn't appear to be \"m,\" but everything points to it being the same place.\n\nIn 1909, Frank Day lost his liquor license after being arrested and fined on Nov. 15, 1909, for permitting a female to enter his saloon and \"drink intoxicants.\" Day's saloon had been a frequent subject of complaints from citizens and the police; the mayor stated that it was \"generally believed ... that gambling was permitted in the saloon, \" according to the SR Republican, Apr. 6, 1910.
