John Brown bought 1,400 acres of land along the Laguna de Santa Rosa, most of which he leased to other farmers. The open field at the right of the picture became Cnopius Field--Sebastopol's Airport, in 1925. The road in front of the house is today's Bodega Avenue--Highway 12.
