After serving as a foreign exchange student in Finland, he earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and architecture and a master’s in structural engineering from UC Berkeley. His professional career as a structural engineer and licensed contractor took him around the globe, including extended periods living in London and France and working on infrastructure projects in Africa, Mongolia, and Indonesia. Warren and his wife, Nancy, moved to Kenwood in 1980, where they raised two daughters, Laurel and Asha. Today, he lives in Vida, Oregon, where he continues to do local consulting and engineering work."},{"label":"Description","value":"<p>Brent Moore interviewed former Kenwood resident Warren Fine over the phone on April 12, 2025, as part of the Kenwood Oral History Project. </p><p>In this interview, Warren Fine discusses his deep professional and personal ties to Kenwood, starting with his 1970s purchase of a Bristol Road property while working offshore in the North Sea. He details his work as a builder in the community, notably constructing a redwood barn using traditional Japanese joinery and later returning to Kenwood in 2018 to rebuild his original home after it was destroyed in the 2017 Tubbs Fire. Warren reflects on the \"small-town nature\" of Kenwood in the 1980s, his family's involvement in local sports and the school board, and his 10-year streak running in the annual 4th of July races.
