They purchased their home in Kenwood in 1978, drawn to the tight-knit community and picturesque environment, which she still feels is breathtakingly beautiful. Initially startled by the lack of anonymity--notably when the local postmaster, Edna Bequeath, already knew personal details about her upon her first visit--she grew to cherish the sense of safety and stability provided by neighbors knowing one another. Diane dedicated herself to the Kenwood School Association (KSA) while her children attended, working on fundraisers and volunteer efforts, and formed lifelong friendships with other parents. Through her husband's involvement with the Kenwood Fire Department, she appreciated the profound camaraderie and commitment of the firefighters, especially their care when responding to local emergencies involving \"one of ours\". Diane found the supportive environment in Kenwood helpful during the COVID-19 pandemic and she hopes the community preserves its neighborliness and spirit of sharing.
