Northbound passenger train, engine #90, built in 1891, carried passengers, baggage and mail from San Francisco. Everyone turned out to meet the train when it arrived in Occidental. The bridge was converted to a trestle in 1902. A 110-foot high Cluster Pier near the center of the picture was retained when the bridge was converted. The photo was taken after 1907 (information provided by the Occidental Centennial Committee in 1976.
