Blending in 5.5% Alexander Valley merlot added an element of strawberry jam and green leafiness to the already intense smokey, black current aromas of the Cabernet. After light egg white fining, the wine was aged in small American oak barrels for fourteen months, cold stabilized, and prepared for bottling. Moderate tannins and firm acid are carefully balanced by soft texture and forward, accessible flavors.
