She had several of them during her youth. Following graduation from Santa Cruz High School, she attended Pasadena Playhouse College of Theatre Arts for one and one-half years before starting an acting career in Hollywood under the name Valora Noland. She feels the enterprise never quite got off the ground, though she played lead roles in three T.V. shows. After dropping out at the start of 1968, she studied and practiced Astrology for a brief period, and began a research project involving number patterns. This fascination, combined with wisdom imbued of diverse spiritual books, set her inner life in a new direction. For some time already she had been an avid photographer, a hobby which lasted a full twenty-five years, approximately until different grades of Agfa photo paper became hard or impossible to find. This was about 1990. During the \"photographer\" phase, she contributed to group exhibitions, had four solo exhibits on the walls of public buildings, and sold a few prints in galleries. She also hosted jazz and classical music programs on two noncommercial radio stations during the 1980s. After the untimely death of her Arabian horse in 2004, she began to write of her years with him, \"as a way to assuage the sorrow of his passing and all that led up to it.\" And so we have \"Horse Stories\". Prior to this book, her more colorful writing was limited to poetry. At this time, Valora Tree lives in Northern California."},{"label":"Search SCL Digital Archives for this Author","value":["Tree, Valora, 1941-"]},{"label":"Search Author or Book in Library Catalog","value":"Search for works by Valora Tree in the library catalog"},{"label":"Search Author in Open Library","value":"Search for works by Valora Tree in Open Library"},{"label":"Author's Place(s) of Residence","value":["Sebastopol"]},{"label":"Sort Title","value":"Valora Tree (1941-)"},{"label":"Significant Title","value":"Water Lily Ponds"},{"label":"Digital Archives Identifier","value":"valora_tree"},{"label":"Digital Archives Collection Name(s)","value":["Sonoma County Local Authors"]},{"label":"Date Added","value":"2014/11/17"},{"label":"Filename","value":"valora_tree.jpg"},{"label":"Title","value":"Valora Tree (1941-)"},{"label":"Item Type","value":["Text"]},{"label":"Item Format or Genre","value":["Biography files","Bibliographies","Portraits","Photographs"]},{"label":"Search SC Local Arts for this Author or Artist","value":"Valora Tree (1941-)"},{"label":"Collection(s)","value":["Sonoma County Local Authors"]},{"label":"Author Name (Controlled)","value":["Valora Tree (1941-)"]}],"description":"Valora Tree (1941-)","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/sonomalibrary/iiif/10bf0b5e-1a0e-42e1-9855-f43e4fa8d3bc/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"Valora Tree (1941-)","height":450,"width":450,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/sonomalibrary/iiif/10bf0b5e-1a0e-42e1-9855-f43e4fa8d3bc/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/sonomalibrary/iiif/10bf0b5e-1a0e-42e1-9855-f43e4fa8d3bc","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1]}]},"height":450,"width":450},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/sonomalibrary/iiif/10bf0b5e-1a0e-42e1-9855-f43e4fa8d3bc/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/sonomalibrary/iiif/10bf0b5e-1a0e-42e1-9855-f43e4fa8d3bc/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/sonomalibrary/iiif/10bf0b5e-1a0e-42e1-9855-f43e4fa8d3bc/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/sonomalibrary/iiif/logo"}
