Hundreds of artists have inspired her, but she is especially moved by the light and colors of Edward Hopper, Saul Leiter and William Eggleston, and the delicate grace and mystery of Chris Friel and Jungjin Lee.  She finds a special beauty in our domestic landscapes - laundry rooms, bus stops, kitchens, playgrounds - and also spends hours trying to capture the ephemeral magic of nature. By focusing on these overlooked elements of our daily lives, she hopes to help others discover places where they can learn to breathe.  Her photographs are held in public and private collections, and her work has appeared in a number of juried exhibitions around the country. After the death of her parents, Sandy turned her attention to themes of family and memories through landscape. She visited the 10 camps where 120,000 Japanese Americans — including her parents — were imprisoned during World War 2. Sandy and Washington D.C. photographer Catiana Garcia Kilroy (catianagarcia-kilroy.com)  have produced a photo book called “Show Me The Way To Go To Home.” That phrase was written on a jail wall in one of the camps. It may have been a misquote of a popular song.
