The springs were discovered in 1869 and construction on a hotel and cottages began in 1871, and eventually grew to accommodate 400 people. The main hotel burned in 1943 with the loss of one life. The resort continued to operate with the remaining cabins. The Adams post office was established in 1908. When the Adams Springs Resort sold in 1960, the post office was moved to Loch Lomand and the post office name changed to Adams-Loch Lomand.
