When she was 21 years old, she moved to Houston, Texas. She worked at a private energy company in Houston as part of the management team for 18 years before she joined Asia Society as a Director of Business and Policy in 2016. She received a Master’s degree in Liberal Studies from Rice University and an MBA from Washington University. She is an active volunteer with the Ismaili community where she served as a volunteer liaison between the community and a broad spectrum of civic, cultural, and governmental organizations across Texas. She also served at the Sugar Land's multicultural advisory board from 2009 to 2016.
