His father was Chief Accountant for Greaves Cotton Company and his mother was a schoolteacher. He grew up in a Parsi community, attended St. Xavier’s for school, and completed his SSE at age 14. He then went on to study at Sydenham College of Commerce as well as Siddharth College, developing a background in finance, accounting, tax and auditing. After working with Esso for a few years, he came to the U.S. in 1967 as part of an Experiment on International Living, went back to India for two years and returned in 1969, settling in Boston and enrolling at Northeastern University. He met his wife in India and they got married here; their son was born while they were briefly living in Philadelphia. The family then moved to Kansas City and later Richmond, Virginia, working with Mobil. After he came to Houston in 1978, he began working with Texaco, later Shell, and then retired after 28 years of working with the two companies. Mr. Pavri comes from a priestly family and stays involved with the Houston Zoroastrian community by conducting many of the religious ceremonies and events."}],"description":"Shapur Pavri and Mini Bhattacharya","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/rice/iiif/ce40e4d5-b666-4788-840b-3cb92654c6a1/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"Shapur Pavri and Mini Bhattacharya","height":3264,"width":2448,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/rice/iiif/ce40e4d5-b666-4788-840b-3cb92654c6a1/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/rice/iiif/ce40e4d5-b666-4788-840b-3cb92654c6a1","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":1024,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4]}]},"height":3264,"width":2448},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/rice/iiif/ce40e4d5-b666-4788-840b-3cb92654c6a1/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/rice/iiif/ce40e4d5-b666-4788-840b-3cb92654c6a1/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/rice/iiif/ce40e4d5-b666-4788-840b-3cb92654c6a1/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/rice/iiif/logo"}
