She taught physical education in the Houston Independent School District for 33 years. She maintained a life-long participation in sports, entering Senior Olympics at age 55 and the National Gay Games, collectively winning over 300 medals. In 2007 she was inducted into the Texas Senior Games Hall of Fame. Scott has been active in LGBTQ+ organizations over many years; including, Lesbian Health Initiative (LHI), Seniors Preparing for Rainbow Years (SPRY), and with her long-time partner Janice Ives, founded the Texas Ramblin' Roses, an RVing women's community and chapter of the National RVing Women's Group. In 2016 she was honored by a proclamation from the City of Houston for her contributions to the development and implementation of numerous LGBTQ+ programs over the last 40 years."},{"label":"Abstract","value":"This transcript forms part of a collection of oral history interviews conducted by Center for the Study of Women, Gender, and Sexuality at Rice University.
