Also see 1931 letter in H1 Category Box\nFollowing my interview on the ABC, on 4 August 2002, I followed up on the Penfold's bottle but despite many leads, drew a blank. Success came during the 2006 Show when details were supplied re its current whereabouts.\nOver the years, many people have asked about the ‘Penfold’s bottle’, a landmark in the 1950’s and early 1960’s. It stood where the Ferris Wheel is today in front of what was then the Hall of Industries (later Hamilton Hall and now Hamilton Boulevard). It is unsure just how long the bottle was in place, but it is remembered as a great meeting place because of its prominence. Correspondence in D13A (1961) suggests that it was in place at least up until 1962.
