S. No 14, \"near the Burlington G. T. R. Station\", was built in 1899 (tender call, Hamilton Spectator, 1 Feb. 1899). The architect was Peter Brass (1838-1904), who was born in Stromness, Orkney, Scotland and worked as builder and contractor in Hamilton, Ont. from the mid-1850's until 1879 when he began to advertise himself as an architect. By 1900 Brass had taken up the position of Inspector of Buildings for the Grand Trunk Railway, and he superintended the construction of the G.T.R. Office Building in Montreal.
