About 1783, the family moved to New Brunswick as United Empire Loyalists. While there Clement married Phoebe Land. Her parents, Robert and Phoebe Land moved to the Head-of-the-Lake. In 1807, at age 43, Clement and Phoebe and their eight Children and youth moved to Nelson Township - to Farms and Farming on Lot 11 Con 4 SDS - now (2014) the lakeshore at Walker's Line. Clement was a ship builder and probably continued this trade while his sons cleared the land for Farms and Farminging. During the War of 1812, Clement and his older sons enlisted in the local militia. Clement became a Major. On the 15 Oct. 1855, Clement died at the home of his son John, not far from where he first settled. Clement is buried in the Mount Vernon Cemetery.
