The Alice Peck Gallery is located in a well-kept early 20th-century home on Lakeshore Road.\",Built in 1847 for John Stuart, it had many owners until it was sold ca 1931 to Emily Williamson, one of Canada's first women lawyers. In 1958 it was bought from her estate by Alice Edith Aldridge; in 1959 to Mabel Ethel Peck, then to Alice Peck Slavin. The Alice Peck Gallery, The Treasury of Canadian Handicrafts, opened in the front two rooms in 1960. The art gallery addition was built in 1961. This was the location of Robert Bateman's first one-man show in 1967. The upstairs gallery was added in 1978.
