B. Coleman, who in 1902 built the Brant Hotel as a summer attraction which brought many wealthy Americans, such as the Dupont and Mellon families, as well as many visitors from all over Canada, to this summer resort. Coleman built five large rental cottages along the Bay at the turn of the century. In 1929 he reigistered Plan 236, the Indian Point Survey. The subdivision marked the transformation of the summer resort into a year-round residential community.
