The first fire apparatus, bought in 1893, was stored in the Engine House. The Town Bell was cast in 1894, to summon volunteer firemen. The owner of the first team of horses that arrived to draw the fire engine to the fire and return it to the hall afterwards was paid $5. Teams that arrived too late received $1.50. The bell and hose-drying tower was removed in the 1950s after the Boy Scouts took over the Hall.
