Wabasso Park cottage on the shore, at the left.,notes by Keith Thornborrow, November 2005: The Burnisons lived originally at the very top of the Gallagher Road north of the CNR Tracks. William Burnison and Byron Cutter were boyhood chums. Benjamin Burnison, William's father, had a frame house and large barn [destroyed by fire]. Being a teamster for hire with teams of heavy horses, Benjamin plowed the snow from the roads in the Winter with a wooden drag plow weighted with rocks. He also removed dead stock. Bill Burnison married Daisy Burkholder and built a new brick home next to his parents' frame house. The senior Burnisons sold the Farms and Farming to the National Sewer Pipe Co., to be mined for clay, and retired to Hamilton. William and Daisy sold their house and relocated to the northwest corner of Plains Road and National Sewer Pipe Road (previously the Paine house), where they operated a small fruit stand and a small orchard. Upon retiring they sold the Plains Road property and moved to Eagle Drive. Mary Burnison, their only child, attended Maplehurst Public School and Waterdown High School. She married a fellow named Powell and moved to Tanager Ave. Their Children and youth included Beverly Powell. The original Burnison homes at the top of Gallagher road were occupied later by other families: the Henry Gordon family, Fawcetts, the Doreen family and Huishman family. The brick house was finally used by the # 3 Aldershot fire company as a fire demonstration and training building (destroyed by controlled fires)."},{"label":"Creator","value":"Byron Cutter"},{"label":"Date","value":"circa 1910"},{"label":"Date (EDTF)","value":"D:00 M:00 Y:1910"},{"label":"Title","value":"William (Bill) Burnison with iceboat on Burlington Bay, Aldershot, ca 1910"},{"label":"Repository","value":["Burlington Historical Society"]}],"description":"William (Bill) Burnison with iceboat on Burlington Bay, Aldershot, ca 1910","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/e1af7f85-4acf-4ef8-93f6-1e9800c40936/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"William (Bill) Burnison with iceboat on Burlington Bay, Aldershot, ca 1910","height":1512,"width":1056,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/e1af7f85-4acf-4ef8-93f6-1e9800c40936/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/e1af7f85-4acf-4ef8-93f6-1e9800c40936","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4]}]},"height":1512,"width":1056},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/e1af7f85-4acf-4ef8-93f6-1e9800c40936/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/e1af7f85-4acf-4ef8-93f6-1e9800c40936/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/e1af7f85-4acf-4ef8-93f6-1e9800c40936/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/qstarter29/iiif/logo"}
