E. Tufgar, Butcher, Brant St. Charles Tufgar, a Plumber is listed on Ontario Street. 1919 Voters List: Richard Gastle, Gentleman, Lot 27, Hurd. Probably a retired Farms and Farminger; see the Gastle Family Farms and Farming, 6507 Walkers Line (a Century Farms and Farming in 1967). 1927 Voters List: Mrs M. Gastle, Widow, Lot 27, 9 Hurd 1927 Voters List, Part III: Eva Trimble, Maid, 9 Hurd in 1980 to Reginald & Susan Collins; in 1987 to Louise Lavesque. 1924 GOAD Map: 9 Hurd ARCHITECTURE: A two-storey box-shaped brick building with a hipped roof. Originally the twin of 506 Hurd, also built by Klainka. ENVIRONMENT: Mature tree on newly landscaped front yard. USABILITY: INTEGRITY: Replacement shutters. The full front verandah was removed in the 1970s. In 1993/4 a replacement half-front verandah was built with a shed roof, turned posts, wooden railing and lattice beneath the floor, and concrete steps. The replacement windows have imitation muntins giving the appearance of multiple small panes. The brick has been cleaned and the pointing seems somewhat blurred.
