Sold in 1925 to George Wesley House; in 1944 from his estate to Jeffrey Page Rein Wadsworth & wife; in 1945 to Howard and Helen Lang; in 1959 to John George and Ruth Anne Marie Hall. I lived there from my birth in 1935 until the death of my Father in about 1944, when my Mother sold the house and we moved to Hamilton. Also came across a number of family names which brought back old memories and in particular Percy and Lucy Winn and their son Frank who lived directly across the street from us, in fact our only neighbours, because our corner lot was otherwise surrounded by 3 wooded vacant lots. showing my Father George House sitting in rocking chair on front lawn reading newspaper. Believe this must have been taken sometime in 1930s, as from my earliest recollection living there (perhaps 1938, when I was 3 years old), the veranda was already screened in and not open. Lastly, a note about my parents. Their full names were George Wesley House, born in Beamsville and Emily Adeline, nee Cornwall, born in Oakville. He also at one time changed spelling of his name to Howse, but changed back to original spelling when he married my Mother in 1930s The Haus family had immigrated to the US from Germany in 1710, settling in the Mohawk Valley in upstate New York. My great grandfather, Lewis House, was a soldier in the War of 1812, but on the American side. He was taken prisoner in Upper Canada and while there met up with, fell in love with and married his first cousin Catherine House of United Empire Loyalist stock, living in Beamsville. (My Father at one time was president of the UEL Association in Hamilton.) He then remained in Canada after the war. -- George House Removed in 2012 from the Heritage Burlington heritage property registry, for alleged lack of historical, architectural, or contextual value.
