Smith, Retired, 23 Hurd ave 1932 Burlington Directory: Thomas & Ruth Smith, 23 Hurd To Norman & Dorothy Craig in 1944; to Mario & Lucia Lentinu in 1963. ARCHITECTURE: A large two-storey Victorian Ontario vernacular hip-roofed brick building. The offset gable has a plain boxed cornice, gablet lip (?), a small rectangular window and fish-scale shingles. The sash windows have radiating voussoirs. The shed roof of the veranda has a recessed decorative gable front and arched frieze. This is originally almost a mirror-twin of 550 Hurd, built in 1913. ENVIRONMENT: On a double lot (also like 550 Hurd). Large modern garage and parking area in front; large vegetable garden plot at the rear. USABILITY: Multiple residence. Large parking area. INTEGRITY: The veranda has a new concrete foundation and metal supports and railings. The foundations are clad with angel stone. The eaves and fascia are aluminum clad. The brick has been cleaned.
